This stage includes economic and technical studies to determine the feasibility of constructing a new railway line. It involves analyzing the volume and nature of expected transportation, the role of the new line in the existing railway network, and its interaction with other modes of transport. This helps assess the economic viability and justification for construction.
This includes surveying and mapping the terrain to choose the optimal alignment for the future railway. It identifies the relief, locations of water bodies, buildings, roads, power lines, bridges, etc. Technical data are gathered for designing all railway facilities, considering the terrain and natural conditions.
A detailed topographic survey is carried out to create maps and plans needed for engineering and design. The collected information is processed using specialized software: digital terrain models are created, elevation marks, slopes, groundwater levels are defined, and a final topographic plan with all objects is generated and passed on to the designers. This ensures precision in placing all railway infrastructure elements.
Based on collected data, a railway project is developed, including both economic and technical components. Key parameters are defined, such as gradients, number of main tracks, useful length of arrival and departure tracks, type of traction, etc. Design also includes earthworks, engineering structures, track superstructure, station locations, and other infrastructure facilities.
Preparation of the site includes arranging areas for construction machinery, materials, and temporary facilities. Logistics for material delivery are established, along with storage and inventory management of necessary resources.
This involves preparing the foundation for track laying, including drainage to prevent flooding. The area is cleared of vegetation, stones, and old structures. A stable and reliable base is created to ensure the durability of the railway track.
This includes a full range of work to build new railway infrastructure. It involves earthwork, laying of the ballast layer, installation of sleepers and rails, drainage systems, and signaling. All work is performed in accordance with technical standards, ensuring the durability and safety of railway operations.
This involves restoring the upper structure of the railway track, including replacing or repairing rails, sleepers, and the ballast layer to ensure safe and reliable train movement.
During reconstruction, worn elements of the track superstructure such as rails, sleepers, and ballast are replaced to maintain safety and reliability.
Regular technical servicing includes replacing worn sleepers and rails, leveling, and re-tamping of settled areas. This ensures continuous and safe train operations.
Railway siding and facility projects are developed in accordance with established standards and must be approved by JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.” This ensures compliance with safety and efficiency requirements.
After construction, the site is certified, including documentation of all technical characteristics. This is necessary for the further operation and maintenance of the railway infrastructure.
The construction and reconstruction of railway sidings and loading/unloading facilities are carried out based on projects approved by JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.” Connection of sidings to the general railway network is only allowed with permission from JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” or the railway director. After that, the site is opened for permanent operation.
